Although his primary role is providing support and copy editing as Jennifer’s husband, Marc provides a wealth of value for clients. It is a common joke that Marc, a career administrator in higher education with both a J.D. and Ph.D., if he could go back and know his career trajectory would have earned a degree in public relations and marketing – valuable skills he has come to know well in his current role as Dean of Students and Interim University Title XI Coordinator at the University of South Carolina. Throughout his career in student affairs, whether in small institutions or state flagships, Marc has been called to advance his unit and get students to events through creative brand management and marketing. Although his primary consulting lay in legal issues, particularly Title IX, and student success, he is also well seasoned in nonprofit management. Not only has he taught the legal issues course in a graduate program in philanthropy and development, but he has years of experience on nonprofits boards ranging from the Boys and Girls Club to his current position as Board chair for Midlands Fatherhood Coalition in Columbia, SC. After serving on the editorial board of three different scholastic journals and publishing his own work, he is well positioned to provide S&G consulting support for copy development and editing. Dr. Shook would be especially skilled to assist clients looking for expertise in education, staff management, program evaluation, and nonprofit management.
